Meet the Artist
Dirkie Nell
Hi there, I am so glad you’re here.
I’m Dirkie, the artist behind Nell Creative Studio. I work from a small home studio in the beautiful countryside town of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Here I draw inspiration from my natural surroundings. The clouds that sweep over the mountains most mornings and the mist that swirls between the tree tops when I go for an early hike. These scenes leave me feeling a deep connection with nature that I translate into color on paper.
I enjoy creating bespoke pieces full of vibrancy that has the ability to move with your mood and encourage you to dream and expand your imagination.
My illustrative work follows a mixed media approach and makes use of digital drawing tools such as Procreate and Photoshop for main design elements. My illustrative style is inspired by simple everyday rituals and subjects, interpreted in a loose artistic style that can be described as painterly and naive with a dash of fun.
